Challenge
Clients Material Master Data had become obsolete, causing a misalignment in part codes with either of PIDX, MESC, or UNSPSC frameworks, This resulted in, among others, unwanted inventory, excessive spend and waste as well as a severe inability to properly manage parts requests and inventory,or track spend across the engineering and services functions of the company.
Interventions
- Review E&P industry materials and services;
- Review and understand oil industry taxonomy (PIDX, MESC, UNSPSC frameworks) identifying their gaps and shortcomings;
- Established logical relationships across E&P industry items, materials, and services;
- Developed generic framework based on the UNSPSC level 4 tree;
Established framework alignment with Company organizational structure.
Result
The developed and sanitized Material Master Data aligned the framework to the company’s organizational structure, enabling more accurate materials and services records across departments, eliminating orders duplication and unwanted inventory as well as enabling more accurate cost tracking and spend management
